During the recent events in Barcelona, MEF announced the results of its Board elections. The Board represents the diversity of businesses, regions, and markets of the mobile ecosystem. This week it was confirmed that Andrew Bud and Robert Gerstmann were elected to remain in their roles as Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively.

Voting took place over the prior two weeks and the results were announced at the MEF Global Forum at MWC 2023 in Barcelona.

There were six positions up for election, and the elected Directors are:

  • Matteo Gatta, CEO of BICS in Belgium
  • Jason Lunn, Global Connectivity and CPaaS at Cisco in the UK
  • Anurag Aggarwal, Chief Growth Officer at Globe TeleServices in India
  • Waheed Adam, Executive Chairman of iTouch Messaging Services in South Africa
  • Valeria Magoni, Senior Director, Product and Corporate Marketing at Kaleyra in Italy
  • Tim Ward, VP Number Information Services at Xconnect in the UK

They will join existing Board members:

  • Andrew Bud CBE FREng FIET – Founder and CEO, iProov – Chairman
  • Robert Gerstmann – Chief Evangelist & Co-Founder, Sinch – Vice Chairman
  • Rafael Pellon – Partner, Pellon de Lima Advogados
  • Dario Betti – CEO, Mobile Ecosystem Forum
  • Jimmy Jones – Head of Security ZARIOT

Each new Board member serves a two-year term on the MEF Board. Their role is to shape the strategy and governance of MEF activities globally. Over the coming year identity and consumer trust will be key priorities.

Voting took place online and all full members were eligible to vote. There were 18 candidates for the six positions.

Each candidate submitted a short video outlining what they can offer the Board, and MEF members voted for their preferred candidates.
