Africa is a mobile-first continent – which makes its enterprises hungry for easy-to-deploy SMS, USSD, airtime, chatbot and mobile money services. Tanzania’s Beem is answering the call, as its CEO Taha Jiwaji tells MEFTV…

Tanzania is one of Africa’s most prosperous economies. And mobile is at the heart of its upwards trajectory. For example, take mobile money. Tanzania has an estimated 30 million active mobile money accounts, which collectively generate 300 million transactions a month.

This vibrant market is now home to a number of fast-growing mobile service providers. One of them is MEF member Beem.

Beem began as an SMS advertising platform connecting consumers to offers from businesses. But over time it evolved into an omnichannel communication platform.

Today, Beem’s communications and financial services platform gives enterprise customers access to SMS messaging, USSD, airtime, chatbot and mobile money services via easy-to-integrate API’s and a self-service web portal. And it’s not just for Tanzanian customers. Beem offers access to 20 countries and more than 55 direct MNO connections.

MEF TV caught up with Taha Jiwaji, CEO of Beem, at MWC22. Here’s our exclusive interview…
