América Móvil’s Claro Brasil wants to be the 4G leader in Brazil and to have, by the end of this year, 9,000 antennas ready to deliver 4.5G technology, CEO Paulo César Teixeira told reporters in São Paulo before the opening of the 2017 Futurecom conference.

Apart from launching 4.5G, the company’s plan to take top spot involves selling quad-play packages combining pay TV, broadband, fixed telephony and mobile telephony..

Gemalto has unveiled the Gemalto Assurance Hub, which analyses the profile and behaviour of customers in real time to detect potential attacks.

The hub processes millions of transactions built from thousands of attributes (such as device profiling, location, user behavior, biometric data or keypad style). It can then flag unusual patterns and request a higher level of authentication.

Guy Krief has been promoted by mobile commerce firm Upstream to chief executive. He takes over from co-founder Marco Veremis, who has become executive chairman.
Krief joined Upstream in 2004 and was most recently chief innovation officer. He was also co-founder of Persado, an Upstream spin-off company dedicated to AI-generated marketing.
