WhatsApp Rules Commercial Mobile Messaging in Indonesia
Almost three times as many smartphone users in Indonesia receive promotional messages from companies via WhatsApp (74%) compared to SMS (26%). The latest research from MEF shows WhatsApp messaging in Indonesia is 41pp above the global average, with SMS 9pp lower. The third most used channel was Instagram on 22% (6pp above the global average), followed by TikTok on 15% (2pp above) and Messenger on 14% (level).
