Infobip Surpasses 10 Billion RCS Messages

Infobip has passed a major milestone, delivering more than 10 billion Rich Communication Services (RCS) business messages on its global communications platform. The surge reflects the accelerating adoption of RCS, driven in part by Apple’s decision to support the technology with the release of iOS 18 in late 2024. Since then, Infobip has recorded a fivefold increase in global RCS traffic, with North America showing a remarkable 1,400% jump. Overall, the company reports 500% year-on-year growth as enterprises embrace RCS to complement SMS and offer richer, interactive customer experiences. RCS enables secure, reliable, two-way communication with text, images, videos, and files, supporting the full customer journey.

David Vigueras, Marketing Manager at Samsung Electronics México, stated that
“Digital customer experiences are essential for businesses because they enable a deep understanding of customers and careful tracking of their entire journey, facilitating easier access to offers and services while strengthening communication and lifecycle engagement with end users. We’ve seen very positive results using channels like WhatsApp and RCS. RCS, in particular, offers a key differentiation. Unlike traditional messaging limits, RCS provides room for creativity, not only in message copy but also through rich media, interactive buttons, and various engagement options. These features let us offer customers multiple call-to-action buttons, all trackable in one place, which is a major advantage.”

Craig Selby, RCS Business Unit Director at Infobip, added “We’re witnessing record adoption as RCS becomes the channel of choice for businesses aiming to offer trusted, personalized messaging. Infobip is proud to lead this transformation, and we expect RCS growth to accelerate as more consumers and brands embrace these capabilities.”

RCS Business Messaging Fraud to Cost Mobile Subscribers $4.3 Billion Globally Over the Next 5 Years

Juniper Research warns that fraud losses from Rich Communication Services (RCS) business messaging will surge from $300 million in 2025 to $1.3 billion by 2030, a 170% increase driven by rising RCS adoption. The report highlights that RCS’s interactive features make scams more convincing, with account takeover (ATO) posing the greatest risk. While brand verification can boost trust, it may also be exploited by fraudsters. Juniper calls on operators to partner with verification bodies and strengthen fraud prevention to protect the RCS ecosystem.

“As two thirds of mobile subscribers are expected to be capable of receiving RCS business messages by 2030, mobile operators must prioritise the protection of subscribers from ATO fraud over the channel. If these vulnerabilities are not addressed, RCS will eventually harbour the same levels of fraud as seen with SMS over recent years,” Ballhysa concluded.

Proofpoint Unveils First Agentic AI Solution for Human Communications Intelligence

Proofpoint has launched the industry’s first agentic AI solution for Human Communications Intelligence (HCI), transforming enterprise communications into actionable intelligence to mitigate misconduct, regulatory risks, and insider threats in real time. Targeting regulated and litigious industries, the solution shifts compliance from post-incident review to proactive, AI-driven detection and prevention. A study of 1,600 CISOs highlights collaboration tools like Slack, Teams, and Zoom as top risk sources, surpassing GenAI chatbots and cloud platforms. Proofpoint’s HCI, part of its Digital Communications Governance portfolio, goes beyond keyword detection by interpreting human intent and context across 80+ channels. Using its Nuclei technology, intelligent agents autonomously assess conversations, flag risks as they arise, and provide transparent reasoning.

“Legacy connectors are merely proxies that pass content downstream, offering little intelligence”, said Harry Labana, SVP & GM of Proofpoint’s DCG business. “Proofpoint has reimagined capture by moving beyond simply collecting messages to interpreting and reasoning in real time. This transforms the world’s largest source of behavioural data—human conversations—into actionable intelligence that empowers compliance, legal and security teams to prevent risk before it escalates.”
