First Orion Announces Industry-Leading SENTRY® Spoof Protection Solution Now Available Across All Major U.S. Mobile Carriers

First Orion has announced that its industry-leading call blocking solution, SENTRY®, is now available on all major U.S. mobile carriers. SENTRY is the first system designed to proactively stop scammers from spoofing legitimate business numbers and brands. By leveraging First Orion’s Call Authentication technology, it verifies call legitimacy in real time, blocking malicious attempts before they reach consumers. This is especially critical as impersonation scams, particularly in the financial, insurance, and healthcare sectors, have become the most costly type of fraud, contributing to nearly $2.95 billion in consumer losses in 2024, according to FTC data.

“Call spoofing scams are one of the most damaging and persistent forms of fraud in the U.S.,” said Josh Whitehurst, Head of Product at First Orion. “SENTRY was built with this concern at its core – now that it is available across all three major carriers, we are providing enterprise-level spoof protection at an unprecedented scale while delivering peace of mind for businesses eager to take back control of their outbound calls and restore confidence in their brand’s voice communication.”

Robocalling Fraud: Global Consumer Losses to Exceed $80bn in 2025, But Will Start Declining in 2026

A new study from Juniper Research reveals that global losses due to robocalling fraud are expected to exceed $80 billion in 2025, driven by the increasing use of AI-powered scams that impersonate trusted entities. These sophisticated tactics have primarily targeted consumers, leading to a surge in financial harm. However, the report predicts a turning point starting in 2026, as mitigation efforts mature and technologies like Branded Caller ID (BCID) and regulatory frameworks such as STIR/SHAKEN are more widely adopted. These solutions are set to play a critical role in authenticating caller identities and restoring trust in voice communication.

The report also emphasizes the importance of a collaborative, multi-layered strategy to combat robocalling fraud effectively. It calls on operators, regulators, and vendors to implement enterprise-grade authentication frameworks, leverage AI-driven threat detection, and run subscriber awareness campaigns. Juniper Research argues that only by aligning these efforts can the industry adequately safeguard mobile users against increasingly sophisticated voice-based scams and minimize financial losses.
