In our 5 minutes with profiles, MEF members talk about their business, their aspirations for the future and the wider mobile industry. This week, Declan Pettit introduces Monitoring & Compliance Partners.

Tell us a little about what Monitoring & Compliance Partners (MCP) does ?

MCP are a Mobile Advertising Monitoring company. Headquartered in UK, we have operations (currently 45 people) across EMEA with a variety of client types; Payment Processors, Network Operators, Regulators and On-line Merchants. We provide the tools to ensure market intelligence and pro-active regulatory due diligence are at the forefront of our clients’ strategic thinking and responsibilities.

When did you launch and what growth have you seen?

Under a different name (ETX), we have been providing on-line verification services in the UK market since 2010. In 2013, we changed our name to MCP and added a suite of monitoring services which has seen us grow to over 60 clients across 20 territories. We have seen revenue triple to our year ending Oct 16.

slide_02What are your main goals?

To become the leading global monitoring company of digital content and services, across mobile and internet networks to support clients in obtaining return on investment, market intelligence and compliance.

What are your plans for the next 6- 12 months?

To develop both our overseas footprint from 20 to 30 territories, focusing mainly on Asia and Africa. This will not only involve the physical rolling out of our local monitoring stations, but also focusing on providing compliance support and advise in the territories in which we roll out.

What aspect of mobile is most exciting to you right now?

The endless opportunities that continually pop up in what is still a very nascent mobile industry. The by-products and additional benefits that present themselves emanating from our core monitoring capability – beyond just pure trends and compliance – is most exciting for us.

What is the biggest threat to mobile right now?

Unscrupulous players damaging the longer term potential in the marketplace by using rogue techniques to capture new business. This can lead to reactions from Mobile Network Operators, that, in order to protect their brand and customers, also lead to restricting genuine business opportunities for the vast majority of well-intentioned content providers.

Where do you see MCP in 3 years?

At MCP, we are well placed to we continue to invest heavily in our people and technology to ensure clients have the best of breed monitoring tools.

We have plans to diversify into other verticals and other channels that have similar issues as mobile billing; issues like restricting children’s access to adult sites, stemming the tide of social media bullying and gathering research data around consumer’s on-line comments on/reactions to products/services.
