China Tops 1Bn 5G Connections… India Nears 280Mn

The worlds two most populous countries – India and China – now claim over 1.28 billion 5G mobile connections between them, with China passing the 1-billion milestone at the end of 2024 – equivalent to 56% of total connections. India’s 278 million 5G connections equate to 26% of the total market, according to the latest research from MEF Data. However, 5G has been available in China since 2019, while India only launched in 2022. In fact, 5G penetration in India is ahead of China after just 3-years of service – 26% against 21% in China.
