As consumer expectations grow for a seamless omnichannel experience, communications fraud remains the proverbial fly in the ointment, cutting across virtually all channels. Indeed, from text messaging to voice calls to VoIP, finding new, innovative and actionable fraud prevention methods endures as one of the biggest challenges facing the industry today. Within this battle to stay one step ahead of the fraudsters, the ability to verify and vet every phone number in an omnichannel environment has become the linchpin for fraud prevention success.
Fortunately, Number Intelligence as a Service (NIaaS) solutions already exist that enable providers to validate number accuracy in real time. However, more solutions are needed as fraudsters grow increasingly sophisticated and traditional fraud prevention tools like SMS firewalls no longer work. Now, with the Fraud Prevention Registry (FPR), a new and innovative resource, the telecom and digital messaging ecosystems can share fraud data to fight fraud holistically, especially amid the expected migration of SMS traffic to RCS and beyond. Developed by netnumber, this co-op format registry contains phone numbers supplied by telecom providers, financial institutions and more confirmed to have been involved in fraud. Registry users can access the fraud data via a real-time API or data feed of their relevant FPR partition. The FPR is another example of how number verification solutions remain the bedrock for greater fraud-fighting effectiveness and better user experiences.
Don’t miss this chance to learn more about this first-of-its-kind fraud prevention registry!
