UK Males More Likely to Pay for Mobile Gaming

Results of MEF’s latest Consumer Survey reveal a clear distribution of spend between UK gamers, with males significantly more likely to pay for games – and spend more! Free mobile gaming still dominates for 51% of males and 63% of females. At the bottom end of spend, we see 6% of men and 8% of women forking out less than £1 per month but, as the payment amounts increase, so does the proportion of males. Approximately 12% of men spend £1-5 per month versus just 9% of women, with the £5-10 bracket attracting 11% of men and 8% of women, while the £10-20 range sees the widest gender gap of all – 11% men vs. 4% women. Both genders converge at 6% for spending over £20, indicating a small but stable premium segment.
