MEF’s annual Global AGM and Global Board Elections will take place on 19th October directly before the 12th Annual Meffys Gala Dinner. The AGM is the opportunity for all members to meet and participate in a live update of MEF’s plans for the year head. During the AGM board elections will take place where full MEF members can vote for the for the four open seats for the 2015/ 2016 term.

There’s a flaw entrenched in the internet we have come to know. It’s time to face it: the internet is on fire. Its current fundamentals need to change if we want it to serve its original, liberating purpose. We need to rebuild the internet so that it becomes something we can trust.
In today’s world, consumers are losing their faith in the good nature of operators, app providers, telcos, and other internet companies. But trust is the ultimate selling point for these businesses. It’s something beyond bandwidth & price that cannot be scaled down or discounted. If you lose trust, you’ll lose your business relationships, along with your business edge. A good reputation is worth money.
Trust is deeply interrelated with privacy. Instead of full anonymity, we recognize that digital life is a conscious trade-off: you give a little of yourself for better services. We don’t aim for absolutes or ideals. We simply aim to hand control back to the people.
At F-Secure, we fight for digital freedom. It sounds fancy, but we’re just reclaiming the internet’s original ethos.
Serving on MEF’s Board would be a wonderful way to support this cause. I’m committed to sharing my time, expertise and network to help make mobile life a great experience for everyone. Andrew Bud – iProov
Founder and Chief Executive
Since its founding, Andrew has been a passionate and committed advocate for MEF and the industry. He has served as a director since 2001 and as Global Chair since 2008. He cares deeply about growing the value that MEF delivers to its members and the influence it can offer in a changing industry, and ensuring that MEF is governed to the highest standards.
Since he was re-elected to the Board in 2013, he has concentrated on three major objectives: driving MEF’s rebranding as the Mobile Ecosystem Forum to serve a much broader and more inclusive industry community; sponsoring and promoting MEF’s privacy and Consumer Trust agenda; and maintaining focus on the Executive’s successful efforts to deliver on its growth and financial goals.
Building on this progress Andrew looks forward to working with the Global Board to fully realize the vision of a well-focused, growing, member-driven association relevant to the entire mobile content and commerce value chain.
Andrew is the Founder and CEO of of iProov, a pioneer in usable biometric identity authentication for mobile transactions. He is also Founder, and former CEO and Executive Chairman, of mBlox on whose Board he serves. He serves on several other Boards in the technology and financial services sectors, and was a non-executive director of the UK regulator Phonepay Plus for three years. He dedicates at least two days a month to MEF, and intends to continue this commitment.
Rob Malcolm – mBlox
SVP Global Commercial Operations
Rob has worked at the heart of the mobile eco-system since 2003, and currently holds a senior executive position at Mblox. Rob was a key driving force behind its growth from a small start-up to one of the largest mobile messaging companies globally.
Rob has a passion for the Mobile API economy, IOT, mobile monetisation, and the importance of the mobile community working together to create valuable, secure and seamless services on a global scale.
Mblox has been a member of the MEF for over a decade and has contributed where possible to its growth, evolution and relevance over the years.
Rob is excited about helping the MEF bring together its diverse set of members and if elected to the board will execute on adding value in the following areas –
- Defend against over zealous regulation, and complex data protection laws and help its members comply and differentiate themselves by creating easy to understand guidelines globally
- Understand the root causes of fraud and security issues, and work together across the entire eco-system to find processes and solutions that make a real impact
- Foster innovation that increases the size of the eco-system market and delights consumers globally”

Dominic Lobo – Orange
Dominic Lobo has over twenty years’ experience in the Telecoms industry across both the device manufacturing and network operator sectors. Throughout his career atNokia, Motorola and Orange, he has collaborated with industry leaders at the forefront of launching key mobile technologies and services such as Java (J2ME) enabled devices, app shops, and billing partnerships with partners such as Google, Microsoft, and Sony.
Dominic now heads a Communication Services startup within Orange called Libon which provides messaging and voice communication services to customers via an app and is available to any users across the Globe. Libon holds a unique and exciting mission in that it operates as startup in a rapidly changing environment whilst being part of a large traditional Telecom player and as such needs to manage significantly different customers.
If elected, Dominic would like to contribute to:
- Engaging relevant actors within Orange to benefit from MEF’s value propositions
- Apply his significant experience of monetizing products and services towards enabling MEF’s growth
- Boost MEF’s important Customer Trust focus to address complex services using customer insight and testing to ensure the best and most intuitive experience
- Champion MEF’s important Messaging initiative to address the challenges we all need to prepare for in the next 2 or 3 years
Dan Wilson – Pubmatic
VP Emerging Solutions, International
Dan Wilson has worked in mobile since 2000. Dan joined PubMatic in June 2014 to lead the Emerging Solutions team across EMEA and APAC. Prior to joining PubMatic he held senior and global positions at several leading companies including Everything Everywhere and Amobee.
Dan will bring a wealth of international mobile experience to the Board of the MEF having worked extensively in EMEA, North America and Asia. His operational excellence will bring a real-world element to the MEF in terms of translating policy objectives into tangible outcomes to support the growth of the industry.
A self-confessed privacy nerd, Dan’s core expertise is in mobile advertising and he is taking a keen interest in the rise of ad blockers and need for a better advertising experience on mobile for publishers and advertisers to ultimately benefit the consumer.
Additionally, Dan is fascinated by the extreme adoption of smartphones and tablets by children, and the experiences of his own children (one of whom has autism) has given him a new understanding into the importance of good UX design, even better hardware design, and the skills and patience needed to explain complicated issues to an audience.
Ricardo Carvalho – TIMWE
Co-founder & Managing Partner
Ricardo is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of TIMWE, a global provider of mobile enablement solutions for Marketing & Entertainment, Money, Government and Tech Services. With its 15 years’ market experience and management of technological platforms, TIMWE designs, delivers and manages end-to-end solutions for mobile carriers, media groups, governments, brands, marketing & advertising agencies as well as end consumers. TIMWE operates in more than 75 markets worldwide, is present in all five continents, managed throughout 27 offices employing more than 500 people.
With many years of experience developing business throughout the world and dealing with different cultures, Ricardo helped launch TIMWE international operations in 2003. After starting its core business in Latin America, TIMWE successfully expanded to Middle East, Africa, Europe and the Asia Pacific regions.
If re-elected as a MEF Board Member, Ricardo will ally TIMWE’s vast experience and knowledge of the global mobile space to his networking capabilities. While creating awareness to MEF’s worldwide events and activities, Ricardo’s mindset is clearly on leading MEF towards a wider range of business opportunities, namely on strategic regions, such as Africa. His know-how and experience will surely increase MEF’s reach within the telecommunications ecosystem.
