For the first time, MEF’s Annual Consumer Trust Summit will take place in New York.

The theme of the 4th Annual Summit is “Trust as a business critical issue”. Hear cross-sector speakers from the mobile ecosystem discuss global perspectives and updates on regulation and the impact on your business, how to construct a business case for best practice privacy in the mobile ecosystem, and dealing with sensitive information-health, location and children.

MEF’s event is supported by F-Secure, AVG Technologies and new for 2015 will be co-located with the 2nd Annual Privacy, Policy & Technology Summit: “The Business of Privacy” which looks at Privacy as a profit center and best practice for big data attracting attendees from Mobile, Technology, Retail, Healthcare, Consumer Goods, Legal and Finance sectors.

The two events combined will deliver a comprehensive one-day program of presentations and debate. Speakers announced include Google, Macys, Intel, TRUSTe, Inmobi, and AIG. Topics and themes to be addressed over the course of the day will include:

  • Regulatory changes across the US, Europe and Latin America and what they mean for your business.

  • The best ways to safeguard consumers’ super-sensitive data while striking right balance between Innovation and maintaining Consumer Trust.

  • New ways to build long term relationships with smartphone consumers

  • How privacy and security can be deployed as competitive advantages in a trusted and sustainable mobile ecosystem.

  • Next generation analytics and big data

  • Building the business case for privacy

The Summit will close with an official drinks reception from 6Pm – 7.30PM providing international networking opportunities for MEF members and delegates.

Larry Magid, CBS News

Larry is an on-air technology analyst for CBS News and writes columns for CNET News, Huffington Post, Forbes.com and the San Jose Mercury News.

Larry is also a well-known internet safety expert, serving as co-director of ConnectSafely.org, and is the founder of SafeKids.com and SafeTeens.com. He is on the advisory boards of the Internet Education Foundation and Family Online Safety Institute and served on the Internet Safety Technical Task Force.

Larry has a doctorate of education from the University of Massachusetts and a bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Berkeley.

Chris Davies, Inmobi

Chris is General Counsel for the InMobi business operations across Europe, Middle East and Africa and responsible for global data protection and privacy matters for the world’s largest independent mobile advertising network. He was previously General Counsel & Company Secretary at Kelkoo and Senior Legal Counsel at the Financial Times.

He currently serves on MEF’s EMEA Board and on the advisory board of the Future of Privacy Forum.

Rafa Pellon, FAS

Rafael is a partner at Focaccia, Amaral, Salvia, Pellon e Lamonica Advogados, with over 14 years of experience in legal practice specialized in contracts, intellectual property, media and entertainment. He has worked for a variety of technology and telephony companies, such as Claro, Embratel, IG and UOL. Rafael is a Director of ABDTIC – Associação Brasileira de Direito e Tecnologia da Informação and Legal Consultant of Policies & Initiatives of MEF LATAM and the Mobile Marketing Association – MMA

Rafael is also Policy & Initiatives Advisor for  MEF LatAm.

Jules Polonetsky, Future of Privacy Forum

Jules is Executive Director and Co-chair of the Future of Privacy Forum, a Washington, D.C.-based think tank that seeks to advance responsible data practices.

Jules previous roles have included Chief Privacy Officer at AOL and DoubleClick, as Consumer Affairs Commissioner for New York City, as an elected New York State Legislator and as a congressional staffer, and as an attorney.

Jules currently chairs the privacy advisory board of Gigya. He has served on the boards of a number of privacy and consumer protection organizations including TRUSTe, the International Association of Privacy Professionals, and the Network Advertising Initiative. From 2011-2012, Jules served on the Department of Homeland Security Data Privacy and Integrity Advisory Committee.

Patrick Parodi, The Wireless Registry

Patrick is Founder and CEO of The Wireless Registry. He has held leadership roles with pioneering companies in the fields of mobile advertising, mobile music and mobile video. He was the CMO of mobile advertising giant Amobee (acquired by Singtel for over $320M) and served 6 years on the Board of Shazam Entertainment.

Timo Laaksonen, F-Secure

Timo is at the helm of F-Secure’s personal and business cloud offerings.

He has over 20 years experience in international ICT sales and marketing, having held senior management positions at Sonera, ICL and Nokia Data. More recently he was Chief Commercial Officer at telecoms solutions provider Tecnotree before joining F-Secure in 2012.

Timo has a Master of Science (Business) degree from Turku School of Economics and Business Administration in Finland.

Debra Farber, TRUSTe

Debra is a Senior Consultant at TRUSTe, where she leads privacy consulting engagements for clients and advises on the development and implementation of new product offerings.

She has nearly a decade of experience in assessing privacy and security risk for the protection of information assets; overseeing policy development and implementing privacy protections and security controls.

Debra serves as a Privacy Professional Faculty Member with the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). She is also a Faculty Member with IANS, the leading provider of information security insights and decision support.

Rick Fant, Mozilla

Richard (Rick) Fant is an accomplished product development executive with a background in software engineering, product management and international deployment. Over his career he has driven successful product development at Microsoft, Vodafone and Mozilla; launching MSN Mobile, Vodafone 360 and Firefox OS into international markets. Richard also sits on the Board of Directors for two organizations; VillageReach – an NGO innovating in last-mile Africa healthcare and Mobile Ecosystem Forum (MEF) – an industry association focused on expanding the overall mobile ecosystem.
