 The half-day programme featured four expert sessions taking an in-depth look at the regulation, use cases, trends and drivers that are disrupting and enabling game-changing opportunities for businesses and consumers alike when it comes to personal data.

Getting Ready for GDPR

Privacy 2.0

New data protection rules mean consumers must be presented with meaningful choice and control over the way their data is collected and used. But what does that look like in practical terms, and how can businesses benefit from involving consumers more in the process? The risks and opportunities affect all sectors and emerging technologies including AI and IOT create new challenges. The debate looks at new data flows, consent, privacy by design and explores how choice and control can be implemented. Featuring;

  • Gervase Markham, Policy Engineer, Mozilla
  • Michele Nati, Lead Technologist, Personal Data & Trust, Digital Catapult
  • Alan Duric, CTO, Wire
  • Emanuele De Leonardis, Innovation Director, Data & Analytics, Orange

Digital Identity Management

In the digital world, the issue of ‘who you are’ is hugely important. Every organisation wants to be sure you are who you say you are, from the eRetailer to the tax office to the bank. It is very easy for fraudsters to exploit the system when all that is required is an email address or password. When the burden of proof is higher, it causes friction and can be highly problematic for users.  The panel explores the key business benefits and how to create a trusted identity. Featuring;

  • Laurent Charreyron, Consultant & business analyst, Kupperingcole, Moderator
  • James Monaghan, Product Management Director, Evernym

The Personal Data Economy

Introduction
The personal data economy, also known as the Internet of Me, the API of Me, M2B, self data, the personal information economy and more, describes a powerful new idea: letting individuals take ownership of their information so they can share it with businesses on their terms. This could include basic ID, health and information, financial records, buying history, social media activity, biometrics and more.

Dr Windsor Holden of Juniper Research gives a brief overview of MEF’s Whitepaper: Understanding the Personal Data Economy.
