Picard is a French producer and distributor of quality frozen foods with a network of more than 1,100 shops in France alone, and 19 other countries globally including physical stores, shop-in-shops, and e-commerce shopping.

With a mission of ‘Continually nurturing the love of good food’ the brand is dedicated to building a strong relationship with their customers by providing quality products and services (including home delivery and click & collect service). It has established itself as an important player in the food business and won the title of France’s favourite food retailer in 2021.

Picard’s ambitious growth plan has propelled them to enrich the relationship with their customers even more. A great example being Picard & Nous, a new loyalty program introduced in 2022 which brought more opportunities for customers to engage in unique experiences while enjoying their beloved products.

The business challenge:
As part of the customer loyalty program, Picard encourages their customers to keep collecting points on their purchases and to redeem them for special rewards to get the most out of the experience.

It’s important to note that all accumulated points must be redeemed by January 31, otherwise the points will be void. Thus, it was essential for Picard to encourage their customers to use loyalty points before the expiration date to avoid frustration and maintain great customer experience across the whole customer journey.

Sinch, the customer communications cloud, helped Picard in providing a more enjoyable and personalised experience to encourage customers to use their points before they expire.

The solution:
Sinch created a personalised experience with a dynamic loyalty point counter, delivered through the Sinch Rich SMS service, accompanied by an intuitive mobile landing page. The goal was to move away from using banal loyalty reminders and help reduce the number of customers losing their loyalty points. We wanted to inspire customers to collect and spend their points to get access to unique experiences boosting their overall customer satisfaction.

The channel of choice for reaching the intended audience was SMS, specifically Rich SMS, which is SMS with a rich link to a campaign-specific interactive landing page. The landing page was addressed to each individual. It had a dynamic counter with number of points of the customer receiving the message, carousels and banners with rewards that members could exchange for points, and inspiration for collecting more points by purchasing products from Picard’s website.

The Rich SMS-enabled link and landing page helped Picard easily track activities on the landing page, analyse results, and create follow-up actions based on user behaviour and interests.

By combining a more fun and engaging points display with a guided journey to use them, Picard was able to encourage their customers to take full advantage of their benefits, while strengthening their commitment and loyalty to the brand.

This campaign was launched mid-December 2023, which gave enough time for the audience to collect more points and use them before the expiration date.

The results:
– Exceptional SMS click-through rate of 34%. This is 24 points higher than the market average for similar engagement campaigns, and 13 points higher than any of Picard’s other Rich SMS campaigns. It is also the best performing large volumes Rich SMS campaign that Sinch has delivered in 2023.
– An impressive 98% response rate. 98% of people have clicked on the link in the SMS message and interacted with the landing page with an average of 8.5 interactions per user (CTA button clicks, carousel browsing, and other interactions on the landing page) with a redirection rate to the web of 72%.
