Programme Overview

The Global Mobile Money Initiative was initially proposed by MEF members to educate, engage and evolve the nascent Mobile Money industry to address existing gaps in the market and benefit the wider ecosystem globally.

Of the 200+ mobile money deployments to date there are varying levels of success. MEF Members proposed to launch an initiative to further understand:

  • What are the key success factors for driving user adoption of Mobile Money?
  • What needs to be done to accelerate market adoption of Mobile Commerce & Money Solutions?

MEF partnered with mobile financial services specialist Mondato to carry out a feasibility study to inform a scope of work for the global initiative focusing on Conceptual design & buy-in, Deployment and Payment ecosystem including regulatory frameworks.
