Data Privacy Regulation in Brazil and Latin America
The introduction of GDPR regulation in Europe has spurred a global debate on privacy. But the global regulation is still very fragmented and diverse outside of EU. Recently Brazil has revamped its data privacy law, a framework that many consider harmonized to GDPR in spirit and structure. Does, that mean that European companies will find working in to Brazil easier and cheaper? Or will American companies struggle to adapt? Are there areas not harmonised that companies should be aware of? What parts of the regulation are still to be fully detailed? And will Brazil be a template for the rest of Latin America?
To navigate through all of this question MEF has asked Rafael Pellon, Partner at FAS Advogados to guide us through Brazil Data Privacy and the outlook for the rest of Latin America.
