Rick is an EEMA Board member who previously chaired the EEMA Internet and Wireless
workgroups. With 35 years secure digital wireless experience and executive positions in both the
private and public sectors he has led design and build teams for two European mobile operators.

He has been a champion of safe mobile working since he gave the keynote at the first UK conference on the subject in1984. He has also been active in the ID world since his involvement on the steering group for the UK ID card .This is currently driving his work in mobile authentication and privacy. Passionate about new technology, he enjoys separating hype from reality and delivering practical solutions.

Samu Konttinen - F-Secure

Executive Vice President, Consumer Security

Samu Konttinen is the Executive Vice President, Consumer Security and interim VP of Human Resources of F-Secure Corporation. Prior to that he served as Executive Vice President, Customer and Market Operations, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Vice President of Sales and Geographical Operations and Vice President of Mobile Business Unit. Mr. Konttinen has been a member of the Leadership Team since 2009.

He joined the company in 2005 and in his earlier career he worked in sales and channel management, including Director of Regional Operations, covering F-Secure operations in +20 countries in EMEA. Before joining F-Secure he held a Vice President position at Valimo Wireless Ltd 2001-2005. Mr. Konttinen is also a member of the board of Ixonos Plc. He has studied Business Administration at Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences.

Jeremy Olivier - Ofcom

Head of Internet Policy

Jeremy Olivier is Head of Internet Policy at Ofcom; his responsibility is policy development across a broad range of issues, including the evolution of audiovisual media regulation, net neutrality, protection of minors, and the regulation of OTT services. Mr Olivier’s current focus is on the EU Digital Single Market programme, and in particular the revision of Audiovisual and Telecommunications regulatory frameworks. Before Ofcom, Mr Olivier worked at the BBC,  providing strategic advice to the Directors of the BBC’s Online and Television services.

Iain Bourne - ICO

 Group Manager (Policy Delivery)

During his time with the Commissioner, Iain has dealt with a wide range of areas, including health service compliance, new technologies, international issues and privacy at work. Iain worked for a couple of years on the freedom of information side of the ICO.

During the last few years Iain has been very involved with the ICO’s work on information sharing, privacy notices, personal information online and anonymisation. He is currently doing a lot of work on the EC’s proposal for a new data protection Regulation and the search engines ‘right to be forgotten’ issue.

Chris Riley - Mozilla

Chris Riley is a Senior Policy Engineer at Mozilla, working to advance the open Internet and Web through public policy analysis and advocacy, strategic planning, coalition building, and community engagement. Prior to joining Mozilla, Chris worked as a program manager at the U.S. Department of State on Internet freedom, a policy counsel with the nonprofit public interest organization Free Press, and an attorneyadvisor at the Federal Communications Commission. Chris holds a Ph.D. in
Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University and a J.D. from Yale Law School. He has published scholarship on topics including innovation policy, cognitive framing, graph drawing, and distributed load balancing.mozilla

Tony Anscombe - AVG Technologies

Senior Security Evangelist

Tony Anscombe is the Senior Security Evangelist for AVG Technologies. Tony’s role at AVG is to bring products and solutions to our growing, free users population, that allow them to enjoy their online experiences, while trusting AVG to provide them protection from malware and data loss. Tony is also instrumental in developing relationships with third party testers of AntiVirus products, which help AVG to continue its focus on delivering product quality and excellent security.

Tony is a speaker at global events including CTIA and RSA the Security Conference.  He regularly contributes to industry forums and is an established media commentator on issues surrounding privacy, consumer trust, security, child internet safety, and online threats.  Tony has also led the AVG Digital Diaries Research Series, the international study into how technology is changing childhood and beyond.

Geoff Revill - Krowdthink

Geoff has spent the last 3 years crafting the Krowd app and supporting business strategy. The Krowd is a fundamental rethink of the business model and value proposition for social engagement online. In particular, unlocking the value of localized social engagement has been his focus, and the tech enabler is WiFi. In an era of increasing cyber hacks we need to approach user data in a new way, to

Jon leads UK Business Development for Deutsche Telekom’s white label and open connected home platform. Successfully launched in Germany in late 2013, Deutsche Telekom’s open platform is now available internationally, with an initial focus on Europe, and particularly the UK.  Deutsche Telekom’s platform has been designed to move the industry beyond simple control of connected devices, to create a foundation for new revenue generating services.

Jon’s focus is on establishing partnerships with telcos, utilities, insurers and retailers, as well as third party platform providers and OEMs to enable the realization of innovative new models and revenue generating services.  Jon has worked in and around the connected home space since the early 2000s, and has a deep knowledge of the European market, and in particular what will finally drive growth in this market.

Charlotte is Head of Policy at techUK, working with techUK members and policy-makers in  Westminster, Whitehall, Brussels and beyond to help create the conditions for a world-leading tech industry and a thriving digital economy right across the UK. Charlotte leads the work of the techUK policy team which covers a number of policy and regulatory areas including data protection and  privacy, skills and migration, intellectual property and copyright, productivity and the economic contribution of tech, and more. Charlotte is currently working with techUK colleagues and member companies on policy development for a positive Digital Single Market and on the relationship  between the UK tech sector and the European Union.

Tom Bals is the Head of Strategy for EMEA at frog and leads the region’s Innovation Strategy consultancy team. He is responsible for structuring and delivering frog engagements that shape and reshape its global clients’ businesses through user centered strategy and design.

Before joining frog, he started his career in consultancy services leadership, building gyro Amsterdam from idea to reality, providing marketing services to multinational clients in the b-to-b space.

Matt Mills is responsible for the commercial team at Featurespace, working with clients in financial services, insurance and gaming. Matt is the former Global Head of Partnerships and Innovation at augmented reality company Aurasma, and previously worked at Autonomy, including running Optimost in EMEA.

Matt won DemoGod 2011 in Silicon Valley and gave the TED Talk on Augmented Reality on mobile which has had over 2.5m views.

Daniel Preiskel - Preiskel & co

Daniel is a co-founder of Preiskel & Co and has over 20 years’ experience working in the telecoms, media and technology sectors, advising across the globe.  He has been ranked for over 15 years in major independent research guides as one of the world’s leading communications lawyers.

He is particularly recognised for commercial and regulatory work in the UK and overseas. Tim Green- Mobile Money Revolution

Tim has been writing about mobile since 2000 when he was an analyst at Screen Digest. In 2005 he launched Mobile Entertainment, the world’s first B2B magazine for the emerging mobile content community. In 2012, Tim turned his attention to mobile payments and launched his own blog, Mobile Money Revolution. He’s now unhealthily obsessed with the sector.

Earlier this year, Tim became executive editor of Hot Topics – a magazine and website for ‘tech leaders’.

Charles Palmer - Shuflr

Charlie started his career designing cars via CACD (Alias/Wavefront) in Germany for well-known automative brands. He migrated to “new media” working for a leading Dutch agency called Lost Boys (now LBi) between Amsterdam and London, working closely with Orange Telecom, BBC and Sony on brand, advertising and mobile.

From here Charlie co-founded Mfuse in 2003, a mobile gaming technology focused on UX, that enabled online gaming companies to take their online products to mobile. After this Charlie headed mobile at Betfair with the sole remit of taking the Betfair exchange to smartphones, as well as working closely with the M&A team on acquisitions and strategic alliances in China and Japan.  Charlie sourced and set-up a Betfair smartphone front-end development team in San Francisco. In his spare time Charlie is a keen rock climber, mountain biker and Landover enthusiast.
