Customers of every operator in Japan can now pay for Spotify Premium subscriptions using their mobile number.
Carrier billing specialist Boku has confirmed the integration, which means 158 million KDDI, Softbank, and NTT Docomo subscribers can pay for music streaming from the phone bill.

Orange has teamed up with payment specialist Wirecard to let customers use Apple Pay inside the Orange Cash wallet app.

The app was developed by Wirecard and offers real-time information about balance and transactions linked to a prepaid account with a digital Visa card.

The virtual reality sector is all to play for – and now Orange is set to enter the market with a major launch.
It will release the VR1 headset and VR 360 app in a number of European countries, with prices starting at €49.99. The VR1 is supplied by Strax, and works with most iOS and Android smartphones.

A landmark deal between Ecobank Group and MasterCard will see Masterpass in-store payment extended across all African countries this year.

The partners have already deployed the QR code system in Nigeria, and have set a goal of reaching 100 million customers by 2020.

Portugal’s TIMWE has just won a five year deal to take over the management of VAS services for the Brazilian operator Algar.

It’s a first for an operator in Latam – and the two companies say they expect to increase content revenues by up to five times as a result. Osvaldo Cariijo, commercial director of Algar Retail, said: “In addition to improving the user experience, (we) should benefit from the claim reduction and reduced churn.”
