Infobip demonstrates how Network APIs are driving innovation at MWC

At this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC), Infobip is showcasing its role in driving innovation through Network APIs, aligning with GSMA’s Open Gateway initiative. The company has been instrumental in helping telcos leverage Camara-compliant Network APIs, including a recent collaboration with a major Brazilian operator to implement Number Verify (NV) and Silent Mobile Verification (SMV). These solutions have significantly improved user verification efficiency, reducing fraud risks and increasing conversion rates from 80% (SMS OTP) to over 99% for 1.5 million monthly users.

Henry Calvert, Head of Networks at GSMA, said: “The GSMA Open Gateway initiative provides a consistent API framework for all operators, removing fragmentation and making it easier for developers and enterprises to integrate telco capabilities at scale. To expose the full capabilities that mobile networks can offer, it’s vital that the telco industry and wider ecosystem proactively engage with enterprises to ensure they meet the real needs markets require.”
“We continue to extend our partner and developer ecosystem, Network APIs, self-serve capabilities, and advanced security features. Infobip’s solution-oriented go-to-market strategy leverages our and our partners’ professional services, which allows us to bring CPaaS to customers for more developer-focused initiatives.” Matija Ražem, Chief Commercial Telecom Officer at Infobip

Substantial 15% Growth in Global Digital ID Verification Checks Over Next 12 Months

A new study from Juniper Research predicts that digital ID verification checks will rise to 86 billion in 2025, up from 75 billion in 2024, maintaining a 16% growth trend. The study attributes this increase to the growing adoption of strong customer authentication (SCA), a regulatory framework designed to reduce eCommerce fraud.

With the rise in online transactions, eCommerce merchants are expected to rely more on biometric authentication methods like facial recognition to verify new users and monitor high-value transactions. To manage the vast number of daily transactions effectively, the report recommends AI-based solutions such as liveness detection, which can automate fraud detection and minimize financial losses.

Report author Thomas Wilson added, “The digital identity verification market is undergoing rapid evolution, and vendors must balance ever-stricter regulations and improving user experiences as they develop new services. New methods of verification must align with technological innovation of consumer hardware.”
