This week, Chief Business Development Officer Ivan Mihaljevic introduces Telesytstems.

What does Telesytstems do?

TeleSystems is a Communications Platform as a Service (CPaaS) provider, offering a proprietary end-to-end solution for business messaging. Our OMNI-channel platform enables companies to seamlessly communicate with their users via SMS, RCS, Voice, and popular OTT apps such as WhatsApp and Viber. Supported by our in-house developed Number Intelligence System, we deliver a cost-effective service that ensures top-tier quality and reliability for businesses of any size.

When did you launch and what growth have you seen?

TeleSystems was officially founded in early 2022, based on the work started in 2018 by our dedicated team. In the beginning, we focused on self-funding and developing our technology, which led to our official launch in 2022. Since then, we’ve gathered a team of leading industry experts with a wealth of experience and reached important milestones. In 2024, our platform processed over 10 billion transactions, underscoring the rapid adoption and trust in our solutions.

What are your main goals?

At TeleSystems, our in-house developed routing intelligence stands out for its sophistication, adaptability, and automation – addressing a key weakness often seen in legacy solutions that many companies still use. In the short term, we aim to empower these companies to optimize their messaging operations by leveraging our expertise, advanced technology, and resources.

In the long run, we want to take this a step further by allowing the market to directly use our advanced technology. This will help unlock its full potential and promote sustainable growth for businesses.

Where do you see your company in three years’ time?

We aim to stay on our current trajectory, focusing on strengthening relationships with key industry players and investing heavily in research and development. This approach ensures we are well-prepared to tackle the challenges of a constantly changing industry.

In three years, TeleSystems aims to be a key player in the mobile ecosystem, known for its focus on quality service and for being a trusted and dependable partner for businesses around the world.

What aspect of mobile is most exciting to you right now?

The most exciting aspect of mobile right now is the rapid evolution of communication technologies and their potential to transform the way businesses connect with their stakeholders. Innovations like RCS (Rich Communication Services), the growing integration of AI-driven personalization, and the seamless convergence of multiple channels – SMS, OTT apps, voice, and more – are creating amazing new ways for businesses to engage with people.

From a routing perspective, RCS development is particularly thrilling. The potential to optimize delivery pathways, ensure cost-efficiency, and maintain impeccable message quality, allows for a more intelligent and automated messaging ecosystem. This opens the door for businesses to offer users richer and more interactive experiences while simultaneously overcoming the limitations of legacy systems.

As these technologies continue to advance, the potential for innovation and value creation is limitless, and we’re excited to contribute to shaping this future.

What’s the most critical issue that will hit mobile within the next 12 months?

The biggest challenge for mobile in the next year is managing security and reliability as communication channels rapidly expand. With the rise of messaging technologies like RCS and OTT apps, the risks of fraud, spam, and data breaches are increasing, creating difficulties for both businesses and users. Another pressing issue is the rising cost of maintaining high-quality services while keeping up with stricter regulations and evolving standards across global markets. Companies will need to strike a delicate balance between cost efficiency, compliance, and user satisfaction, which could challenge less agile players in the ecosystem.

At TeleSystems, we see these challenges as opportunities to innovate. By leveraging intelligent routing systems and advanced fraud prevention technologies, we aim to help our partners navigate these complexities while maintaining trust and delivering exceptional service quality.

Apart from your own, which mobile companies are the ones to watch in the year ahead?

Several companies are making significant strides in shaping the future of mobile communication. Companies like Google and their ongoing development of RCS technology are pivotal, as they are driving the adoption of richer, more interactive messaging experiences on a global scale. Similarly, Meta’s continued innovation in OTT platforms such as WhatsApp and Messenger is transforming how businesses and users interact.

On the CPaaS front, players like Vonage, Twilio, Sinch and Infobip remain at the forefront, setting benchmarks for scalability, reliability, and innovation. Additionally, smaller, emerging startups specializing in AI-driven personalization or blockchain-based security in messaging are worth keeping an eye on, as they are likely to bring disruptive ideas to the ecosystem.

At TeleSystems, we are keeping a close eye on the developments and strategies of others in the industry, ensuring that our solutions remain aligned with market trends. By being flexible and proactive, we can meet the changing needs of the industry while continuing to deliver value to our partners.
