In our 5 minutes with profiles, MEF members talk about their business, their aspirations for the future and the wider mobile industry.
This week, CMO Dana Poleg introduces authentication specialists Unibeam.
What does Unibeam do?
At Unibeam, we’re redefining user authentication for service providers and enterprises by seamlessly authenticating customers through SIM/eSIM and mobile device data. No passwords, no intrusive questions – just a secure, frictionless user experience. We have offices in the UK, US, and Israel.
When did you launch and what growth have you seen?
Unibeam has been developing SIM-based technology solutions since 2018. In 2022, we made a strategic decision to focus on SIM-based authentication as our core offering. This shift has brought tremendous momentum, especially among large mobile network operators worldwide. Our applet is already installed on millions of SIM and eSIM cards globally.
What are your main goals?
Our primary goal is to become the default user authentication method for large financial institutions, healthcare providers, and government entities.
Where do you see your company in three years’ time?
In three years, we envision the Unibeam applet being installed on every SIM and eSIM worldwide, with tens of millions of users relying on it daily to access their favorite applications.
What aspect of mobile is most exciting to you right now?
I’m excited to see mobile operators reimagining their business strategies and discovering new revenue streams in user authentication, energy, IoT, and more.
What’s the most critical issue that will hit mobile within the next 12 months?
Over the next 12 months, while new innovations like 5G slicing, 5G roaming, Industrial IoT, private networks, and RCS will hold potential, they may not yet generate enough revenue to offset losses caused by competitive pressures on MNOs’ revenues and profits (such as travel eSIMs, WhatsApp messaging, SMS fraud, and third-party authenticators).
MNOs will need to quickly launch new products that can create additional revenue streams and profitability.
Apart from your own, which mobile companies are the ones to watch in the year ahead?
It’s a dynamic time in the mobile industry. Mobile network operators need to rethink their business strategies and make bold moves in areas like user authentication, identity verification, and customer engagement. They can achieve this more effectively through strategic partnerships.
