DMEXCO – Europe’s leading digital marketing and tech event – usually taking place in beautiful Cologne has been re-imagined as DMEXCO@Home and will take place 23rd and 24th September. MEF is a media partner for 2020 and has been speaking to Dominik Matyka, Chief Advisor to DMEXCO and founder and entrepreneurial partner at Cavalry Ventures, about the all-new digital format.
What will be the hottest topics and trends for DMEXCO @home?
For DMEXCO 2020, we chose the motto ‘Attitude Matters’ and in these times of change, it matters even more than ever. As the meeting place and community for the key players in digital business, marketing, and innovation, we will be covering a range of hot topics with leading speakers and exhibitors from the industry.
Mobile has always been central to the DMEXCO ecosystem and topics such as mobile commerce, payment systems, location based technologies or mobility entertainment and changes to our working lifestyle will be covered and innovation showcased by the leading tech innovators.
This year, we are all facing big challenges and a big trend is the move to fully digital events. Our global community will come together on our brand new event platform DMEXCO @home – a digital space where we want to give the industry the opportunity not only to be inspired by talks from the live conference but also to educate itself, network with peers and simply do business“
This year, we are all facing big challenges and a big trend is the move to fully digital events. Our global community will come together on our brand new event platform DMEXCO @home – a digital space where we want to give the industry the opportunity not only to be inspired by talks from the live conference but also to educate itself, network with peers and simply do business in “the new normal”. Our approach also includes the trade fair part of DMEXCO – as a completely new concept, not a copy.
That’s why on our ‘Brand Showfloor’ exhibitors have the opportunity to showcase the latest innovations in interactive showrooms as well as exchange with attendees, schedule meetings and build contacts. Ticket holders have an opportunity to meet in the ‘Virtual Cafes’ and discuss specific topics or network with each other via instant messaging through text chats and audio/video calls. This is how we want to enable our community to network from home as effectively as possible.
How are marketers having to adjust post-pandemic? What new opportunities, changes and trends do you expect to see?
We are still in the middle of the pandemic and no one knows how it will play out. Marketers are having to adjust everyday, just as we at DMEXCO have moved to digital this year. We are expecting an even bigger shift of budgets to digital and an acceleration in the move to mobile networking within the business community.
We will be hearing more on trends during DMEXCO @home from inspiring industry leaders such as Ulrich Klenke (Deutsche Telekom AG), David Fisher (Facebook), Hiroshi Ishiguro (Intelligent Robotics Laboratory, University of Osaka), Li Shiwei (Cloud Europe Tencent), Thomas Ingenlath (Volvo), Robyn Peterson (CNN) and Sophia Velastgui (AI Microsoft) are just some who are joining our conference program.
Where / how do you see mobile helping accelerate digital transformation?
Our mobile phones have almost become an extension of our bodies and we are seeing so many new technological developments in wearables which will drive end-user habits and digital adoption. This year, health could be a particularly strong driver for adoption of location based technologies and this will impact the related marketing industries. The adoption of 5G will offer even more possibilities for the mobile ecosystem.
Why should MEF’s members attend Dmexco@ home?
DMEXCO @home is one of the few gatherings this year where you can push the reset button and get things moving forward – and that’s what we need now more than ever. MEF members will have the opportunity not just to listen to the latest trends from industry leaders in mobile but get a peer to peer networking opportunity to join the discussion, exchange contacts, do business in a decentralized, seamless and easy way without travelling from home.
