We are thrilled to announce the Meffys 2016 are open for entries. Now in their 13th amazing year the Meffys are the international mobile industry awards that set the benchmark for measuring commercial success and rewarding innovation across the global mobile ecosystem.
Judged by an expert panel of independent journalists, analysts, academics and VCs, the Meffys honour the companies and individuals driving innovation and excellence in mobile, with accolades in a variety of categories reflecting the diversity and life-changing impact mobile technology can bring.

Meffys 2015 finalists
Entries are welcome from companies of any size, geographical territory or sector – last year saw companies from over 30 countries enter including banks, brands, online security specialists and digital agencies, as well as app developers, service providers, operators and handset manufacturers.
Submissions are open for just four weeks, closing on October 1st.
Here we take a closer look at each of the categories, which this year features seven Innovation awards, where we recognise the work of trailblazers in specific fields of mobile tech, and two awards based on current global MEF Initiatives.
From appliances to home security, playtime to business devices, public transport and cars of the future, the Internet of Things continues to amaze us with its connected vision of the future. This award celebrates the devices, products and apps that are making every day lives and businesses smarter and more connected than ever before. If you’re developing consumer IoT products and services and think you can wow the judges, we want to hear from you.
This award recognizes companies who are disrupting the status quo of mobile financial tech, celebrating the retailers, banks, government bodies, enterprises and technology companies delivering the next generation of payment services and banking solutions. Judges will be looking for fintech pioneers accelerating the adoption of mobile money.
This category celebrates companies driving all aspects of global mHealth, including healthcare, treatment, diagnosis solutions as well as lifestyle and health coaching. The judges will be on the lookout for products and services helping to make care accessible to all as well as innovative solutions for prevention health problems through mobile tech.
Mobile First Markets
This award looks to recognise successful products, services, initiatives, technologies & business models within markets where mobile is the primary digital access point. Judges will give special recognition to companies demonstrating a sustainable and successful approach to adapting to the smartphone revolution.
A celebration of pure mobile tech, the engagement award is for services and experiences that help increase engagement with mobile by putting the consumer first. Maybe you’re working on virtual reality, artificial intelligence, location based services, social sharing – the judges are after new and innovative offerings that are capturing consumers’ imaginations and driving mobile engagement.
Mobile services can have significant impact on a host of social, economic and environmental issues – this category recognises such work. Qualifying recipients may be from a one-off initiative developed to address a specific situation such as fundraising during a natural disaster or ongoing services using mobile to improve the quality of life for its users.
This category is all about the apps and services that will be the ‘next big thing’ for consumers. Mobile video or streaming content, entertainment services and empowering tools that create an engaging and captivating user experience. Judges will be on the look out for technology or business models entirely new to mobile.
Global Initiative Awards
Messaging apps and services have never been more popular and continue to evolve and innovate. This award recognises companies driving the future of mobile messaging, whether an enterprise messaging provider or a OTT messaging giant, whether for authentication, customer engagement or marketing, this category showcases the best in mobile messaging.
This award recognises companies and organisations working towards creating a trusted mobile ecosystem for consumers. This can include privacy & security products as well as enabling technologies or business models that showcase best practice when it comes to personal data management and those products & services that put trust at the heart of their service design or user experience.
