 Key mobile trends for 2014

The new-year kicked off with the unveiling of the annual mobile predictions for 2014, identifying 10 key mobile trends including the growth of convenience as a key driver and trust as a critical asset and the role of big data. Andrew Bud, MEF Global Chair, said: “2013 has been the year in which mobile became the principal area of opportunity, growth and innovation for start-ups and major technology vendors alike.  The energy has been global and we’ve seen centres of mobile content and commerce innovation spring up across the whole world.

Mobile payments driving global m-commerce adoption

MEF released the first report in its Global Consumer Insights Series on Mobile Money, authored by editor in chief of Mobile Money Revolution, Tim Green and with Analytics partner, On Device Research.

AVGMEF Report Warns Against Complacency on Consumer Trust

MEF, announced the results of its second annual Global Trust Report carried out in partnership with AVG Technologies N.V. (NYSE: AVG), analyses data from 10,000 mobile media users in 13 countries in order to examine the industry-wide issues of privacy, transparency and security to identify their impact on mobile content and commerce consumer behaviours worldwide.

MEF @ MWC 2014

MWC 2014 kicked of with the AGM & hotly contested board elections, where 24 candidates from 14 countries presented to the gathered member audience – the new EMEA & Asia boards were bolstered by representatives from a diverse range of members new and old.

As part of the AGM, Giles Corbett, Head of Libon at Orange gave an inspiring keynote which challenged cultural thinking about how companies must disrupt to survive in today’s ecosystem. The 12th annual MEF Connects MWC 2014 in association with American Express, the tempo picked up pace as the mobile content & content industry partied late into the night at the MACBA.

MEF members elect new leadership teams for EMEA and Asia to champion Mobile 3.0

MEF announced the results of its 2014. EMEA and Asia Board elections which took place as part of MEF’s member programme at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Six new directors joined the MEF EMEA Board with three of six incumbent directors elected in new leadership roles for the new term. Darren Foulds, Director of Barclays Mobile and Pingit, Barclays was elected as EMEA Chair along with Pietro Catello, Regional Managing Director, Buongiorno and Chris Davies General Counsel EMEA & Head of Privacy, InMobi, as Co-Vice Chairs for the EMEA Chapter. Representatives from ooredoo, MyOrder / Rabobank and Vodacom make up the EMEA Board for 2014/2015.
