Monday 27th February – University of Barcelona

6.30PM: Leadership Session: Building Trust in a Digital Landscape – what’s the future of commerce?

This session, supported by AMEX, looks at the drivers & shifts required when it comes to building trust with consumers and how privacy, security & identity are the enablers of the digital landscape. The discussion will feature leaders from different sectors and focus on the innovation, models and transformation required to harness data-driven and consumer-centric opportunities.

The 15th annual MEF Connects MWC 2017 in association with American Express takes place in the grand entrance hall of the University of Barcelona. Supported by Syntonic, CLX Communications, Universal Music Group, Basebone and RealNetworks.

MEF is hosting a series of sessions for members and guests to showcase the work of MEF’s Programmes and Chapters.

11:00AM-12:00PM: Trust in a data-driven economy: Unlocking value for businesses and consumers

Data is the fuel driving the digital economy enabling greater personalisation, creating new services and empowering new business models.

Key to this is building consumer trust. New data protection rules mean consumers must be presented with greater choice and control over the way their data is collected and used. Consumers must have total confidence that their personal information will be used to their benefit, and never cause them harm.

2:00PM – 3:00PM: New business models for monetizing mobile access in emerging and developed markets

In association with Syntonic, this session examines new business models for accessing content. A representative stakeholder panel of global mobile operators share insights on access models, such as sponsored data, data rewards, and content subscriptions that enable access to be provided for free, helping the mobile ecosystem acquire, engage, and retain users while monetizing content services.

The discussion will look at use cases from both emerging and developed markets to understand how data access models are addressing consumer demand for anytime content access free of data charges.

Supported by RealNetworks this session looks at the platforms, tech & use cases driving the future of communications between businesses and their customers

The Enterprise Messaging market is expected to grow by 36% from US$ 17.2B 2016 to US$ 58.7B in 2020; from 1.6T Enterprise Messages in 2016 to 3.4T in 2020 (Mobile Squared). New A2P use cases are driving this exponential growth – including payments, authentication and customer care with sectors such as finance, retail and utilities using mobile to build trusted relationships or improve efficiencies and user experience.

This session is part of MEF’s Future of Messaging Programme and looks at the tech & messaging platforms that are transforming the enterprise mobile messaging landscape including AI, Chatbots & RCS as well as discusses specific uses cases and their impact.

5:00PM-6:00PM – MEF Africa Steering Committee Meeting

The MEF Africa Steering Committee will meet for a live strategy session to discuss key proposed focus areas for the region for the coming year:
