Last month in Brazil, MEF hosted its largest event to date in Latin America: MEF Connects São Paulo during Tela Viva Móvel, this year supported by Mozilla, TIMWE, Digital Virgo, AVG, Terra Networks and Easy Taxi. Ricardo Bastos, MEF LatAm GM shares his impressions and photos from the evening.

Almost 200 senior executives from more than 80 companies representing the mobile ecosystem in Latin America got together for a great business networking event, in an informal atmosphere. The attendees included, naturally, the four major carriers – Telefonica Vivo, Claro, TIM and Oi – a strong force in the Brazilian market. The success and strong demand for this event demonstrates Latin America’s and Brazil’s, in particular, potential for the development of mobile services. With its 278 million mobile phones in use and a smartphone user base estimated at 89.5 Million (growing at an annual rate of around 22% every year), Brazil represents a great opportunity for any mobile business.

MEF plans to expand its MEF Connects event series to other countries in Latin America, solidifying its presence in the region. Hence, we invite all forward looking companies operating in the mobile sector to join MEF and to create a real impact in the mobile industry.

As in previous years, MEF Connects partnered with Tela Viva Móvel, the most relevant conference in Brazil for the mobile sector and where all market players converge. This year, MEF members were strongly represented at the conference, speaking on various topics including Privacy, Carrier Billing, Global Apps or Mobile Marketing. This demonstrates the strength and importance of MEF community in Latin America.
